30 before 30

Stephanie Czajka

It’s that time of year again. No, not Christmas. My birthday! The world has taken another 365 day spin around the sun which means I’m another year older (and perhaps wiser).  This year has certainly had it’s rollercoaster ride of ups and downs but I’m persevering nonetheless.

I’m a sucker for thought provoking quotes. If I had to summarize my year in one statement this would be it for so many reasons. Your attitude about things and situations amplifies out into the universe giving back what you put into it. To simplify, if you are sending out negative energy you will receive negative energy in return. Bad things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad people. Anything can happen to anyone but the real magic lies in how you deal with it. Things that loom large can end up seeming not so bad because that person handled the situation with grace.

Prepping for the Year Ahead

When my birthday rolls around there are a few things that have become rituals that help me set myself up to have the best year yet:

I take some time to journal on the previous year and reflect on what went well, what didn’t, and any observations that come to mind. It’s difficult to improve if you don’t stop for a moment to take an inventory of what even happened.

Goal Set:

Plotting out both realistic and not so realistic goals helps motivate me. I’m a goal setter, list maker to the max. If I don’t have a pulse on what I'm even aspiring towards I get anxious. Also the obvious; you can’t achieve the goals you never set.

Tarot Card Reading:

If you never have you should. This is a new birthday tradition but one that I’m going to continue with. It’s nice to know what the universe has in-store for you, and also what you should be bringing into your awareness. Thanks to my soul sister and long time friend Morgan Sverson for doing my year ahead reading. Highly recommend!

My 30 before 30 List

I borrowed this idea from my fellow Sagittarius, former Oshkosh native, and blogger friend Libby (seriously check out her adorable blog though). It is exactly as it sounds, 30 things I’d like to do before turning the big 3-0:

  2. Travel out of the country
  3. Declutter 1 area of life per mo. (features to come)
  4. Read 12 books
  5. Organize a donation drive
  6. Wear lipstick everyday for a month
  7. Workout 3-5x per week
  8. Attend a music festival
  9. Compliment others more
  10. Meditate on the regular

  12. Save more aggressively
  13. Eat at Alinea
  14. Buy a legit bookshelf
  15. Start offering bra fit services
  16. Rediscover crocheting
  17. Listen more, talk less (more specifically reach 100,000 Spotify listening hours ;-))
  18. Establish a skincare regimen
  19. Start writing a poetry book
  20. Learn a new language
